Planning a wedding can feel overwhelming, so I've put together answers to all the questions couples ask me most.

Booking & Getting Started
How do I book you?
Easy! Once you've fallen in love with my work, just get in touch and we'll have a chat about your day. I'll send over a contract and a questionnaire and once that's signed with your 20% deposit, you're all booked in!
The remaining balance is due 30 days before your wedding, giving you plenty of time to plan.
What happens after I book?
Once you're booked, you won't hear too much from me until about six weeks before your big day (unless you need me for planning help, I'm always here!).
At the six-week mark, I'll send you a final questionnaire to gather all the details about your day, and we'll have a proper catch up call to go through everything.
Do you charge travel fees?
Travel within 1 hour of Melton Mowbray is included in all of my wedding collections. For venues further afield, a small travel fee may apply depending on the location. I'll always discuss any additional travel costs with you before you book, so you'll know exactly what's included with no hidden surprises.
Engagement Shoots
Why should we do an engagement shoot?
Honestly? Because it's a really good chance for us to hang out before the wedding and get used to having a camera pointed at you.
We'll have a wander, have a laugh, figure out what you like (and what you absolutely don't 😂), and I'll show you that having your photo taken really isn't as scary as you might think.
Then, when the wedding day comes around, you'll already know how I work and what to expect. No awkward first meeting with a camera in your face!
When should we schedule our engagement shoot?
Engagement shoots are included as a choice with Just The Story.
You don't need to book it straight away. Once you've booked your wedding, I'll get in touch around 6 months after booking to see whether you've decided on the engagement shoot or the album and, if you've chosen the shoot, we'll get a date in the diary.
Most couples choose to have theirs a few months before the wedding, but there's no hard and fast rule. If you want to use the photos for your save-the-dates or invitations, we'll just make sure we do it early enough.
And don't forget about the seasons! Spring flowers, summer evenings, autumn colours or a crisp winter walk can all give your photos a completely different feel.
Where can we have our engagement shoot?
Somewhere that feels right for you! It could be a favourite spot you love visiting together, a place with special meaning, or simply somewhere that fits your vibe.
Popular spots around here include Bradgate Park, Swithland Woods, and Rutland Water. My favourite shoots were at Wollaton Park and Calke Abbey, both have incredible character with gorgeous areas and backdrops.

What should we wear?
The goal is comfy, stylish, and totally you! Ladies, dresses always look gorgeous or jeans and a nice top work brilliantly too. Gents, smart casual is your best friend, jeans and a shirt or jumper.
Try to avoid patterns or logos. Neutrals and earthy tones photograph beautifully and keep the focus on you. If we're doing the shoot closer to your wedding day, tie it in with your hair or makeup trial! You'll feel amazing and it's a great way to test the look on camera.
How long do engagement shoots take?
Typically around an hour, although I recommend setting aside 2-3 hours for strolling around a location plus chatting (I do love a good natter!). There's no time limit my end, we'll keep going until we all feel we have enough beautiful shots or if you have plans we can plan accordingly.
Can we bring our children to our engagement shoot?
Engagement shoots are all about celebrating the two of you and capturing this exciting chapter before your wedding. But I absolutely love photographing families too!
As one of my wedding couples, you'll receive 25% off a separate outdoor family photoshoot. Whether you'd like to include the kids, the dog, or the whole family, it's the perfect way to capture another special season of your lives together.
Wedding Day Details
What's the difference between your packages?
I've kept things nice and simple, two packages, depending on how much of your day you'd like me there for.
Just the Story is my full-day option, with me there from 2 hours before your ceremony right through to your first dance. You can also choose between an engagement shoot or an 8x8 album of 50 of your favourite images.
Intimately Perfect is for smaller celebrations and micro weddings. I'll arrive 30 minutes before your ceremony to capture your vows, group photos and a couples session, with speeches included too if they're before the meal.
And if you want to add a little extra, you can! Want both the engagement shoot and the album? Add it for £250. You can also add a second photographer for £350 if you'd like another pair of eyes on the day.
Don't quite fit either package? No problem. Tell me what you're planning and we can build something that works for you.
How many group photos do you recommend?
A maximum of 10 group shots is the sweet spot! You don't want to be standing around smiling at me for ages when you could be enjoying your guests. I'll include example group options in your pre-wedding questionnaire.
If you've got extras like hen party photos, we can do a more relaxed, informal list if there's time.
Do you need a meal?
I do require a supplier meal, but I'm more than happy with something from the bar menu, no need for a full three-course meal just for me! Whatever's easiest for you.
Can we add extra hours?
Absolutely, Want more dance floor coverage or need to start earlier? Additional hours are £75 per hour.
after your wedding
When will we get our photos?
You'll get your sneak peek gallery within 7 days (I aim for the next day/48 hours if I'm not too tired! but I do have a toddler and a baby on the way so next year may be super busy but I always aim to be as quick as I can).
Your full gallery timing depends on the season:
- May-September weddings: 8-12 weeks
- October-April weddings: 6-8 weeks
How many photos will we receive?
Every wedding is different, On average, you'll receive around 800-1000, but I don't like to promise as many as 1k, it all depends on how much is going on during the day.
Can we order prints and albums?
Your gallery will have a little store where you can order prints, albums, wall art, and keepsakes. There's zero pressure to buy through me, you're welcome to take your photos to a local printing shop if you prefer.
Albums start from £250 for an 8x8" size, perfect for parents, up to £450 for a 12x12" statement piece.
Do you share our photos on social media?
Only if you're happy for me to, I'll always ask permission first. If you prefer complete privacy, that's absolutely fine and just as important to me.
The Technical Bits
What equipment do you use?
I use professional Nikon cameras and lenses, with backup equipment for everything. I never risk having just one of anything on a wedding day!
How do we receive our photos?
Through a beautiful online gallery that's easy to navigate. You can download high-resolution images, share the gallery with family and friends, and order prints directly from there.
What's your cancellation policy?
Life happens, If you need to cancel, I'm always happy to chat through options. The deposit is non-refundable, but I'm happy to reschedule up to 2 times if needed.
Are you insured?
Absolutely! I have full public liability and professional indemnity insurance. Safety first!
